    FPGA-based Digital Baseband Transmission System Performance Tester Research and Design

    Communication System Transmission Performance Tester, as a digital communication system design and testing equipment, plays an important role in the construction and daily maintenance of the communication system. The paper presents a kind of tester, which is designed using Cyclone IV FPGA (Field Programmable Gata Array) and VHDL (Very High Speed Integrated Circuits Hardware Description Language). According to the features in the eye diagram, the system performance can intuitively and qualitatively evaluated. The results prove that the system accurately displayed the eye diagram, thereby reflected the performance of the baseband transmission system truthfull

Here, cognitive workload is crucial, as its excess is a main cause of dangerous situations and accidents while being highly participant and situation dependent. However, knowing the captain’s level of workload can help to improve man-machine interaction.     Preparation and Performance of Inorganic Heat Insulation Panel Based on Sepiolite Nanofibers

    High efficiency and low cost thermal insulation energy saving panel materials containing sepiolite nanofibers were developed by means of the synergistic action of inorganic adhesive, curing agent, and hydrogen peroxide. The water soluble sodium silicate was used as inorganic adhesive, and the sodium fluorosilicate was chosen as curing agent. Moreover, appropriate amount of hydrogen peroxide was added in order to decrease the bulk density and improve the heat insulation performance of panel materials. The results showed that the synergistic action of inorganic adhesive, curing agent, and hydrogen peroxide could make thermal insulation energy saving panel materials have low bulk density and high mechanical performance, and the optimal process was as follows: 120°C of drying temperature, 1.6% of sodium silicate as inorganic adhesive, 12% of sodium fluorosilicate as curing agent in sodium silicate, and 2.5% of hydrogen peroxide. The thermal insulation energy saving panel materials as prepared could arrest heat transmission and resist external force effectively

    Background and aimsMitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) have been reported to respond to various stimuli including heat stress. This research aimed to investigate whether StMAPK1 is implicated in the transduction of the heat stress signal to adapt heat stress as a thermos-tolerant gene.Materials and methodsPotato plants were cultivated under mild (30°C) and acute (35°C) heat stress conditions to analyze mRNA expression of StMAPKs and physiological indicators. StMAPK1 was up-regulated and down-regulated by transfection. Subcellular localization of StMAPK1 protein was observed by fluorescence microscope. The transgenic potato plants were assayed for physiological indexes, photosynthesis, cellular membrane integrity, and heat stress response gene expression.ResultsHeat stress altered the expression prolife of StMAPKs. StMAPK1 overexpression changed the physiological characteristics and phenotypes of potato plants under heat stresses. StMAPK1 mediates photosynthesis and maintains membrane integrity of potato plants in response to heat stress. Stress response genes (StP5CS, StCAT, StSOD, and StPOD) in potato plants were altered by StMAPK1 dysregulation. mRNA expression of heat stress genes (StHSP90, StHSP70, StHSP20, and StHSFA3) was affected by StMAPK1.ConclusionsStMAPK1 overexpression increases the heat-tolerant capacity of potato plants at the morphological, physiological, molecular, and genetic levels

    Genome-wide identification and characterization of the NPF genes provide new insight into low nitrogen tolerance in Setaria

    IntroductionNitrogen (N) is essential for plant growth and yield production and can be taken up from soil in the form of nitrate or peptides. The NITRATE TRANSPORTER 1/PEPTIDE TRANSPORTER family (NPF) genes play important roles in the uptake and transportation of these two forms of N.MethodsBioinformatic analysis was used to identify and characterize the NPF genes in Setaria. RNA-seq was employed to analyze time-series low nitrate stress response of the SiNPF genes. Yeast and Arabidopsis mutant complementation were used to test the nitrate transport ability of SiNRT1.1B1 and SiNRT1.1B2.ResultsWe identified 92 and 88 putative NPF genes from foxtail millet (Setaria italica L.) and its wild ancestor green foxtail (Setaria viridis L.), respectively. These NPF genes were divided into eight groups according to their sequence characteristics and phylogenetic relationship, with similar intron-exon structure and motifs in the same subfamily. Twenty-six tandem duplication and 13 segmental duplication events promoted the expansion of SiNPF gene family. Interestingly, we found that the tandem duplication of the SiNRT1.1B gene might contribute to low nitrogen tolerance of foxtail millet. The gene expression atlas showed that the SiNPFs were divided into two major clusters, which were mainly expressed in root and the above ground tissues, respectively. Time series transcriptomic analysis further revealed the response of these SiNPF genes to short- and long- time low nitrate stress. To provide natural variation of gene information, we carried out a haplotype analysis of these SiNPFs and identified 2,924 SNPs and 400 InDels based on the re-sequence data of 398 foxtail millet accessions. We also predicted the three-dimensional structure of the 92 SiNPFs and found that the conserved proline 492 residues were not in the substrate binding pocket. The interactions of SiNPF proteins with NO3− were analyzed using molecular docking and the pockets were then identified. We found that the SiNPFs- NO3− binding energy ranged from -3.8 to -2.7 kcal/mol.DiscussionTaken together, our study provides a comprehensive understanding of the NPF gene family in Setaria and will contribute to function dissection of these genes for crop breeding aimed at improving high nitrogen use efficiency

    Myocardial tissue and metabolism characterization in men with alcohol consumption by cardiovascular magnetic resonance and 11C-acetate PET/CT

    Background: Chronic alcohol consumption initially leads to asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction, but can result in myocardial impairment and heart failure if ongoing. This study sought to characterize myocardial tissues and oxidative metabolism in asymptomatic subjects with chronic alcohol consumption by quantitative cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) and 11C-acetate positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT). Methods: Thirty-four male subjects (48.8 +/- 9.1 years) with alcohol consumption > 28 g/day for > 10 years and 35 age-matched healthy male subjects (49.5 +/- 9.7 years) underwent CMR and 11C-acetate PET/CT. Native and post T1 values and extracellular volume (ECV) from CMR and Kmono and K1 from PET imaging were measured. Quantitative measurements by CMR and PET imaging were compared between subjects with moderate to heavy alcohol consumption and healthy controls, and their correlations were also analyzed. Results: Compared to healthy controls, subjects with alcohol consumption showed significantly shorter native T1 (1133 +/- 65 ms vs. 1186 +/- 31 ms, p 0.05). In contrast, subjects with heavy alcohol consumption showed significantly lower Kmono values compared to those with moderate alcohol consumption (52.9 +/- 12.1 min(- 1) x 10(- 3) vs. 63.7 +/- 9.2 min(- 1) x 10(- 3), p = 0.012). Strong and moderate correlations were found between K1 and ECV in healthy controls (r = 0.689, p = 0.013) and subjects with moderate alcohol consumption (r = 0.518, p = 0.048), respectively. Conclusion: Asymptomatic men with heavy alcohol consumption have detectable structural and metabolic changes in myocardium on CMR and 11C-acetate PET/CT. Compared with quantitative CMR, 11C-acetate PET/CT imaging may be more sensitive for detecting differences in myocardial damage among subjects with moderate to heavy alcohol consumption.</div

    Improved Design of Bit Synchronization Clock Extraction in Digital Communication System

    An improved method is proposed in this design to reduce the phase jitter after the synchronization or the random noise induced phase jitter in a bit synchronization clock extraction circuit. By using a newly added digital filter between the phase detector and the controller, the phase difference pulses from the phase detector are counted and processed, before being transmitted to the controller for adjusting the phase of the output clock. The design is completed by using FPGA chip and VHDL hardware description language and performs the simulation verification on Quartus II. The results show that the improved system performs the accurate extraction of bit synchronized clock, reduces the phase jitter problem, improves the system running efficiency and the ability of anti-interference, and guarantees the synchronization performance of the digital communication system
